A Trinity of New

I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun!
Do you not see it?
Isaiah 43:18

The tenses in this passage reveal mystery.
About to do something. Already begun.
He asks if we see the futuretoday.

Part of God's nature is making all things new
and twenty sixteen is one of those things.
He is about to do something and
 says He has already begun.
Do you not see it?

We are grateful for the past year,
but we also put it behind us--
that we might look forward in hope.
Being able to see our hope for tomorrow
changes how we see today.

The Lord always wants us to see beyond
what is visible and past what is limiting.
Visible and limiting things can consume us.
He is always working in the invisible,
and no matter what today looks like,
He has already begun a new work for tomorrow.
His trinity of love, grace and mercy
invite us forward and remind us--
at this new day, new month, new year--
that there is so much more.
A trinity of new.

The sun has risen again.
