God said to Moses, “Make a snake
and put it on a flagpole:
Whoever is bitten and looks at it will live.”
Numbers 21:8
In the same way that Moses lifted the serpent
so people could have something
to see and then believe...
everyone who looks up to Jesus,
trusting and expectant, will gain real life.
John 3:13-14
Looking and believing and living
are so connected.
There are a million things to look on
as we go through our day.
"Only one thing is necessary..."
The problem is that I don't always
do the "one thing" very well during my day.
I love sitting before Jesus in my quiet time,
receiving grace and peace and rest.
I know His love for me and
it is well with my soul.
Then life happens.
When I move into serving, leaving sitting behind,
I become more like Martha than Mary:
I become irritated and critical,
to the point of questioning Jesus.
Sometimes it is not well with my soul.
Jesus wants my heart's
attention all day long.
Everyone who looks up to Jesus,
trusting and expectant,
will gain real life.
I have to be able to look to Him
in the midst of distraction and life because
looking and believing are connected.
My faith is connected to my gaze.
Those who look to Him are radiant;
they will never be disappointed.
Psalm 34:5
Lord, would Your mercy come
and lift my face that
my eyes are locked with Yours.
One thing I desire of the Lord...

Here's to being radiant regardless of circumstances.....
