He Anchors My Soul

We who have fled to Him for refuge
can have great confidence as we
hold to the hope that lies before us.
This hope is a strong and trustworthy
anchor for our souls.
It leads us through the curtain
into God’s inner sanctuary.
Hebrews 6:18-19
And being in God's inner sanctuary,
what more would we ever want?
I so want to know this type of confidence,
every day, no matter what is going on.
This strong anchor is always in place,
whether the still day and shining sun
keep the sea calm as glass,
or the gusty winds and heavy rains
churn it every direction.
We just need the anchor more
when we are getting tossed around.
It anchors our souls.
This has to be my inner truth.
A dear friend reminded me today of this verse.
It is about who God is and why
He is such a strong anchor for our souls.
Cast the whole of your cares--
all your anxieties, all your worries,
all your concerns--
once and for all on Him,
for He cares for you affectionately
and cares about you watchfully.
1Peter 5:7
He cares FOR us affectionately
and cares ABOUT us watchfully.
And He cares about us so much
that we can cast the entirety
of our cares once and for all on Him.
I know this and I have to know it more.
And more and more.
Until I feel the tug of the anchor
every single time I sense
the swell of the wave.
