He is My Shield

He led me to a place of safety;
He rescued me because
He delights in me.
You rescue the humble,
but you humiliate the proud.
God’s way is perfect.
All the Lord’s promises prove true.
He is a shield for all who
look to Him for protection.
Psalm 18:19, 27, 30

This season has been challenging.
I have sensed things flying in at me
from many directions
and have had to cry out for mercy
on a daily basis that I wouldn't
get knocked out by any of them.
Life happens and thoughts follow.
They can be fast, furious and dangerous.
Some days we think we have some ability
to exercise control over our lives,
but it is all illusion.
Our only place of safety is humility,
surrendering every proud thought
and placing every concern
into His loving care.
And keeping it there.
He is our only safe place,
our shield and our protection.
This weekend, I had a literal picture of that.
I was driving through town and suddenly saw something
flying through the air, headed straight for my face.
There was absolutely nothing I could do.
I honestly thought I was going to be wiped out.
It hit my windshield with such force that
the glass was shattered all the way to the inside.
But it didn't break through the windshield.
I had no idea what had just happened.
I just knew that I had been spared.
My "shield" had protected me.
Oh Lord, You are so good to me.
You are my shield and my protection.
Beyond grateful for how You stepped in
as my Shield and did what I could not.
I know that You do that all day long--
I just don't always get to see it.
I love you, Lord;
You are my strength.
The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress,
and my Savior; my God is my Rock,
in whom I find protection.

He is my Shield, the power that saves me,

and my place of safety.

  1. How can you not have any comments on this!!?! Real life examples like this one bear incredible revelation. Thank you for not swerving off the road-literally and figuratively!! Love you!

  2. Linda, I am grateful to have had the chance to record it. We can forget so quickly. May I always remember this picture from a God who says, "I will rescue those who love me and protect those who trust in My name." He is still speaking through this one. Love u:)
