The Miracle of Walking

But those who trust in the LORD
will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:13
There are a whole lot of Bible verses about walking.
Jesus told the lame man to pick up his mat and walk.
Jesus walked on the water;
He told Peter to walk on the water.
Jesus walked ahead of His disciples
on the way to Jerusalem.
He walked through the grainfields on the Sabbath.

Much happens as we walk along the way.
Soaring high on wings like eagles sounds thrilling.
Running and not growing weary not so much.
Walking and not fainting so common.
But today, I am grateful for the promise that
those who trust in the Lord will walk and not faint.
Because we do a lot of walking.
And on those days that our steps are many,
and our strength seems small,
we have a promise of strength.
"You will not faint."
And that is good news.

Life is about the daily choosing to walk.
And Jesus was all about walking.
When He healed a lame man,
the man picked up his mat and walked.
His walking was a miracle.
When Jesus came upon a body of water,
He walked on it.
He told Peter to walk on it.
Another walking miracle.
I, too, have waters upon which I must walk--
those repetitive, endless tasks that await every day,
with trials and challenges surrounding my steps.
Everyday, I get to exchange
my strength for His--
nothing short of a present day walking miracle.

I am holding on to His promise.
If He gives me a chance
to soar on wings like an eagle,
I will take it.
But His promise is for this day.
Kathy, you will walk and not faint.
It fills me with courage
and gives me great hope.
