A Goal that is Worthy

Anyone who intends to come with me has to let Me lead.
You're not in the driver's seat; I am.
Don't run from suffering; embrace it.
Follow me and I'll show you how.
Self-sacrifice is the way, My way,
to finding yourself, your true self.
Matthew 16

Following Jesus is really about losing yourself.
To enter into training, there is implied a goal
that will be achieved as a result of instruction or practice.
The goal is finding your TRUE self, the self that is like Christ.
I leave the past behind
and with hands outstretched
to whatever lies ahead
I go straight for the goal—
my reward is the honor
of being called by God in Christ.
Philippians 3
I have to believe that there is a goal,
a goal that is worthy of His death and resurrection.
I have to believe I have an identity
that requires His resurrection life.
I have to believe there is a race
that is designed for me to win.
I have to believe He wants me
to grow up in the fullness that is Christ.
I have to believe that living day to day
like nothing really matters
is the matrix designed by the enemy
to keep me from truly living.
I have to trust that His life is the only life worth living.
Jesus, help me live today
rooted in that truth,
free from fear
free from self.
I continue to cry out that
my trust in You gets stronger every day.
