I Will be Found by You

And you, my son Solomon,
acknowledge the God of your father,
and serve Him with wholehearted devotion
and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart
and understands every motive behind the thoughts.
If you seek Him, He will be found by you.1Chron 28:9

I love the passive construction of this last sentence.
He will be found by you.
The Bible is full of paradox.
In this sentence, it grammatically appears
that "you" is the subject and Jesus is the direct object.
You seek, you find Jesus.
And that is true.
Except in this sentence, "you"is not really the subject.
Jesus is actively passive.
When we seek Him, He is not hiding somewhere
hoping to win some game of hide and go seek.
He is actively putting Himself
in our way of finding HIm.
This morning, as I sat seeking His face,
He placed Himself in my way.
I came with my thoughts that were off
and my heart that was not quite right...
and He came and showed Himself to me.
He already knows my thoughts and my heart
and says, Seek Me and I will be found by you.
My mercy and My love are new for you every moment.
I sit here knowing that His mercy and love found me this morning.
I am not a good finder.
I was simply found;
He caused Himself to be found by me.
That is His heart's desire.
And for this, He gives us the greatest gift--Himself.
God did this so that they would seek him
and perhaps reach out for him and find him,
though he is not far from any one of us. Acts 17
He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Heb 11
