Guard My Life

We are able to assert our relation to life
only by refusing to be content with what is not life.
George MacDonald
We so often settle for dullness.
We land on attitudes and dispositions that
don't agree with His life in us,
and we refuse to be moved.
I was reading Psalm 25 with a view toward this meaning of the word life.

Guard my life and rescue me;
do not let me be put to shame
My eyes are ever on the LORD,
for only he will release my feet from the snare.

I have always read "Guard my life"
as a cry for protection from harm and the reality of sin.
But this morning I read it as,
Guard Your life in me!
Don't let my low thoughts and crummy attitudes
bring shame on Your life in me.
Only You can release my thoughts
from the traps that bring death.
You came that I might have life
and have it abundantly.
We are temples of the living God,
as God has said: ‘I will dwell in them
and walk among them. I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.’

Jesus, would You guard my life today--
the life I live in You.
In this hour, You are dwelling and walking
and living in Your people.
May my life reflect that truth.
I want to be so aware of Your presence
that I immediately deny anything that suggests otherwise.
My eyes are on You Jesus.
My hope is completely You.
Guard my life today
that Yours might be glorified.

OK, so posting a photo with the blog is challenging some days! For all you photo people that have cool pictures that I might use--maybe even with this one!--I will give you ALL the credit:) kathyagilbert@yahoo.com
