Living Sacrifice

"I sacrifice my life for the sheep...
The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life
so I may take it back again.
No one can take my life from me.
I sacrifice it voluntarily.
For this is what my Father has commanded.
Father gave His Son and
His Son gave His life back to His Father.
Sacrifice is central to the Godhead.
Sacrifice comes from the Latin sacre
meaning holy, set apart
and facere, meaning to do.
A sacrifice is doing something holy,
something that sets apart.
Jesus says that His Father
commanded Him to lay His life down
for His people.
He apparently laid down His life over and over
because He uses the word again.
"Father loves Me because I sacrifice my life...
and I take it back again."
His whole life was a pouring out,
a living sacrifice.
"With eyes wide open to the mercies of God,
I beg you, as an act of intelligent worship,
to give Him your bodies, as a living sacrifice,
consecrated to him and wholly pleasing to  Him." Romans 12:1
Let me be a living sacrifice
to You.
It is the highest form of worship,
a life that imitates the life of Christ.
