Air of Heaven

Last night we had homegroup at our house and
asked Joel at the last minute to lead worship.
He pulled out the oldie, "Air of Heaven."
I will not give to You, that which cost me nothing.
Set eternity before my eyes.
Lead me far from compromise...
Let me breathe the air of heaven,
I will live this life through Your eyes.
Take the first of my desires as an offering,
Spend me to build Your kingdom here.
Let me breathe the air of heaven,
I will live this life through Your eyes.
When I come I won't be a stranger,
For You have kept my life
In the way of the Lord.
~Jay Hallstrom
Such a powerful declaration and reminder
that we are not to give the Lord
that which we have not bought,
that which costs us nothing.
Compromise, don't come near me.
Desires, you are an offering.
Air of heaven, be my breath.
Eternity, fill my heart.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen,
but on what is unseen,
since what is seen is temporary,
but what is unseen is eternal.
Today, Lord, by Your grace,
I will live this life through Your eyes,
as Your friend, keeping my life in Your way.
May the air of heaven be my breath.

  1. Definitely a favorite of mine too! What a great declaration--thanks for the reminder. PS: as if the words you deliver aren't enough you ALSO find time to find the coolest pictures to visually depict the word the Lord has given you for the day. I have been thinking that all week-just forgot to say it. One more reason you inspire me!
