Awaken to the Knock of His Voice

“Look! I stand at the door and knock.
If you hear my voice and open the door,
I will come in, and we will share a meal
together as friends."
When I was studying the word knock
I found that ancient doors didn't have keys
and that even those who belonged
in the house had to knock for entry.
If everyone was sleeping,
it could be difficult to enter.
We sleep daily.
We need to be wakened daily.
By His voice.

Jesus comes today to say:
I am coming in new ways,
ways you cannot always watch for,
but ways you cannot miss if your spirit is sensitive.
It is a way of awakening,
as in "Awaken My love, for the time is now."
It is not the awakening by alarm,
piercing and shrill, as if to say,
"You would rather anything but this,
but I drag you awake anyway."
No, I come with the gentleness of
a breeze brushing against your cheek,
kissing you with the soft touch of My fingers.
The awakening of love is wonder,
a continual moment by moment wonder.
Man must rekindle, renew and
fiercely resist familiarity,
but I live wide-eyed.
Nothing is ever familiar to Me
and I have experienced it all for eternity.
I am touching you with wonder,
that your love may be awakened anew.
My desire is that My touch will draw you
and My face will delight you
all the days of your life,
eternally cherished and,
as a result,
living from My heart in wonder.

"...and I looked, and there before me was a door
standing open in heaven..."

  1. Thank you for the reminder that life with the Lord should be one lived in constant wide eyed wonder because of who He is--regardless of our circumstances or feelings.
